| Wikipedia’s list of blocked websites | Lists TikTok as blocked since June 2020. | 5 Nov 2026 |
The Wikipedia table is community-edited and flags itself as needing updates, so treat its dates as a guide and not as a live status. Rules change without notice, and a block can be lifted or added from one week to the next.
Which connection are you on?
An answer about one app depends on the path your traffic takes: local mobile data, a hotel’s Wi-Fi or a roaming eSIM are three different routes. Airalo’s help page says its China eSIM routes data through gateways outside mainland China and that this does not apply to hotel Wi-Fi. That is the provider’s statement about its own product, not an independent test.
Compare mobile data options

Save before you go
If you use videos as travel notes, such as recipes or route ideas, save them in the app’s own favorites and note the creator name. Check that saved items open offline in the app.
If you post for work
Schedule or draft what you need before departure and agree on who can publish while you are away. Read the platform’s own terms on posting from another country.
Do this before you fly
- Update TikTok and check that you can sign in.
- Confirm that account recovery works without your home SIM if you plan to swap it.
- Save bookings, addresses and key contacts offline.
- Read the routing notes of the data plan you actually buy.
