Three chapters, not a race
Days 1 to 4 / Beijing
Leave your arrival day light. Give the city a full day, keep another for the Great Wall and preserve time for an unhurried neighborhood walk. Book any timed attractions around actual availability.
Days 5 to 6 / Xi’an
Plan your transfer first, then choose time for the Terracotta Warriors and time within the city. Avoid placing an essential prepaid activity directly after a long journey.
Days 7 to 10 / Shanghai
Finish with room to wander along the waterfront and explore at your own pace. Keep your last day flexible around the departure journey.
Adjust the route to your travel pace
The three-city route is a starting point, not a requirement. If changing hotels and navigating stations feels tiring, remove a stop and give the remaining cities more time. If a landmark is the reason for the trip, plan the visit around confirmed availability first.
Count travel days honestly. A morning check-out, a rail journey and a transfer to the next hotel can use much more of the day than the time on the train. Leave the final evening flexible before a long departure journey.

Make the connections realistic
Use exact stations when checking rail options, include local transfers and leave a buffer between travel and a reserved activity. This sample itinerary is not a live timetable or package.
Get the practical layer done first
Once the route makes sense, set up data and payments and save your hotels offline. Then move on to the memorable parts.
