Make room for the experience
Decide whether you need an introduction to the city, a specific landmark visit or a day trip. Compare like-for-like inclusions rather than only the headline price.
Compare like with like
A walking introduction, a private city visit and a Great Wall excursion serve different kinds of day. First decide what you want to learn or experience; then compare the time, language and logistics.
Look for clear inclusions rather than a long list of landmarks. Ask how much time you actually get at each stop and which costs remain payable on the day.
Read the listing in this order
| Your situation | What to look for | Before you commit |
|---|---|---|
| 1 / The experience | What will you actually do, and for how long? | Match the pace to the people traveling. |
| 2 / The logistics | How do you arrive, meet and return? | Check the exact start and finish locations. |
| 3 / The total cost | Which tickets, transfers or extras are included? | Compare the same inclusions across options. |
| 4 / The flexibility | What changes or cancellations are permitted? | Read deadlines in the booking’s stated time zone. |
Three small details that make the day easier
Keep your confirmation accessible offline. Save the meeting point in Chinese as well as English. Charge your phone and leave time to find the right entrance. Those practical details make the experience easier without filling every hour of your trip.
Before you reserve
- Check the language of the actual departure, not only the booking page.
- Read the meeting point and whether transport or entry is included.
- Check cancellation conditions, availability and any document requirements.
- Read recent reviews on the booking page. Ratings and prices change.
